The picture shows the three-piece applique, however I have also included a version for which you can use just one piece of fabric for the entire heart.
The lacy and double chevron edge stitch replicates the vintage-style look of traditional hand embroidery.
Also, it is important to use the same final thread colour for all steps of the applique process (especially with the lacy and double chevron edge stitch) for best results.
