The 4 inch size numbers all fit the 4x4 hoop.
The 5 inch, 6 inch and 7 inch size numbers all fit the 5x7 hoop.

Vintage-style double chevron stitch

Condensed double-diamond stitch

Also, it is important to use the same final thread colour for all steps of the applique process (especially with the double chevron, lace edge stitch and condensed double-diamond stitch) for best results.
